Going into church today, with my wife Heather, at East Rockaway Nazarene Church I was asked by my sister-in-Christ, Patty Shwartz, “Are you still blogging?”. I responded with “no”. The shorter answer to “No, I’m just not inspired” or “No, I don’t have anything to blog about”. Then it hit me… It’s Easter, Resurrection Sunday. Of course I have something to blog about.
I’m thankful for my church family, from the greeters at the door, the worship team on stage led by the “Most Awesome” Bob McHale plucking away at the electric guitar, with John by his side on acoustic guitar. Mariano on the conga drums and last but not least, Nigel, beating the skins on the drums. The singers, Bob Brockett, Cherise, Jeannie, and Gary Aue, singing their hearts out. Angela Ingenito doing announcements and everyone else in the church. It’s home away from home.
Listening to today’s message from Pastor Steve Hurkens, the intensity in his voice, had me on the edge of my seat (and no, it had nothing to do with my bad back). Participating in Communion and remembering what our Lord, Jesus, went through — paying for OUR sins just reinforces how lucky we ALL are.
Participating in fellowship afterwards with bagels, cakes, coffee, tea, and anything else Anna can put out makes the time for catching up with friends even more enjoyable. Chatting and laughing with friends like Desmond, Sam Harris, Sam V., Eddie and Arlene & kids, Donna, Kenny and Tammy, Daniel and Tammy, Christine, Gary “Buddah” Geverts and so many others makes for a nice wrap up to a fantastic morning. Great worship, great people, great friends, great brothers and sisters in Christ.
Yes, I do have something to blog about. Thanks for the inspiration, Patty.
